It is a model installation of 21st century urban gardening using EarthBoxes.
Thanks to The Growing Connection (of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization) there is an EarthBox sub-irrigated planter (SIP) garden on the entrance steps to the museum and on the upper deck of the Smart Home.
I'm scratching my head trying to understand why they had the museum carpenter build these huge top watered planter boxes. They are well done carpentry, but what was the point. I don't know for sure but it appears to be an Extension program idea.
You could make bomb shelters out of these bunker boxes? Why did they do it? What is the educational reason? I don't get it. Are they suggesting the public follow this bad idea?
There are more photos available. Just click on the link. I'd suggest turning your sound down...or off. There is music in the background.
