As kids growing up during WW2 we spent a lot of time in theaters watching war movies. I may have watched every war movie ever made and played reenactment games about many of them. For example we knew how to turn an empty lot into Guadalcanal. All it took was some imagination and a shovel.
There were many scenes in different war movies of the famous London underground bomb shelters. Unbelievably some of them are about to become farms, albeit underground with plants growing hydroponically in water rather then dirt.
Who knows what's next in the world of urban and controlled environment agriculture. It is still in its infancy. Check out the video.

Renowned chef, Michel Roux Jnr, has joined a pair of West Country entrepreneurs to launch the urban farm revolution.
The team has raised £750,000 to fund the start-up costs of the subterranean farm and the ‘Growing Underground’ brand, which also has the backing of the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson.
