PS 102 ECOFEST was held last evening. How good it was to see all the children, parents and teachers at this event. I met some neat people and hope it becomes a tradition far into the future.
The staff, parents and students of PS 102 deserve much credit for hosting ECOFEST 2009. They are my good neighbors here in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Great job!
ECOFEST was an opportunity to advance the cause of modern methods of personal food production in the city. I represented the Center for Urban Greenscaping (CuGreen), demonstrating how to make sub-irrigated pop/soda bottle planters and growing vegetables in sub-irrigated boxes and buckets.
Participants include: PS 102 Recycling Club, PS 102 PTA, Brooklyn Public Library, Green Fork Farms, Healthy Families Program Long Island College Hospital, Greenraising, Bay Ridge CSA, Sunset/Ridge Waterfront Alliance, Crazy Crayons, Shaklee, NHSNYC, NYC DOT, NYC DOS, NYC DOH, Learning Leaders, American LIttoral Society, Delicious Fundraising, Sustainable Table and others...
