This EarthBox giant tomato plant belongs to these folks. They live in a suburban or country setting but this grow box could be anywhere in the city with more than six hours of sunlight. No turned earth needed!
In all my years of gardening (70, give or take a year or two), I have never seen anything grow as those tomato plants have grown.
And they are not just plants; the plants now are loaded with green tomatoes, some as large as an orange, right on down to the new ones shoving the blossoms aside to claim their own space.
I was late getting my plants in, of course. I am hoping for a few ripe ones, however, before frost comes nipping. I can cover the tomatoes for a while, but then I’ll pull the green ones, wrap them in newspaper and put them aside and eat them over Christmas or New Year’s.
